Education For Life

We believe that the problems in Mbikko will be addressed through Life Skills Seminars when individuals and communities are empowered to re-examine and reflect on time-tested norms and principles that influence healthy human behaviour: self-discipline, self-respect and self-control. Therefore, based on the problem statement above and the current situation in the country, Education for Life seminars and workshops have been and are still relevant to the community and its context because it empowers the beneficiaries to explore life and nurture their inherent capabilities needed to make responsible choices.

The Education for Life Project will continue to address the core problem through the following interventions:

  1. Conducting Life Skills Seminars for Primary 6 Pupils, youth in school and out of school, Teachers, VHWS, FAL Learners, Widows, Young Adult Singles, Married Couples, and Religious Leaders to facilitate them to reflect on their values, attitudes and lifestyles, so that they can make informed and responsible choices for their wellbeing.
  2. Conduct Choose Freedom (Follow up) Seminars for Primary 7 pupils from 16 focus Primary Schools to equip the pupils with more life skills to enable them to sustain good choices and responsibly cope with new challenges as they grow towards adulthood.
  3. Conducting Follow up on Life skills Seminars Youth, Young Adult Singles, Teachers, Community Health Workers, Functional Adult Literacy Learners, Married Couples, Religious Leaders and Widows, to track the outcome of the Life Skills Seminars and to impart more life skills to help them make and sustain good choices in life.
  4. Conduct Adventure Unlimited – Behaviour Formation Sessions for Primary 4 pupils in 16 Primary Schools to help them form good behaviour patterns, focus on life and help them acquire knowledge and life skills that will enable them to enjoy their teenage years to the full.
  5. Marking the day of the African child with 16 focus Primary schools.
  6. Conduct Community visits for Education and Awareness, Mobilization, Project Evaluation and Impact Assessment.
  7. Hold meetings with Key Stake Holders . e.g. Parents, Headteachers and Religious Leaders.
  8. Conduct a General Public ‘Educational/Mobilization March’ on World AIDS Day in the villages of Mbikko Parish to call on people to re-examine their lifestyle and the measures that are necessary for them and all of us together to be able to mitigate the effects of HIV and AIDs.
